Thailand

After a bone-jarring 4-hour mini-bus ride from Siem Reap, Cambodia to the border with Thailand, we returned to the modern world, complete with new automobiles and McDonald's. Coming into Bangkok on the fancy air-con bus felt like driving into any city in North America - toll booths, highway overpasses, fancy cars, skyscrapers. Luckily Bangkok is cheaper & still very different from "home". The food's great, too, just like everyone said it'd be. Today we toured a few fabulous wats & got in four small meals plus snacks. Tomorrow night we're headed to the beach on Ko (that means island) Lanta where the only thing we'll be missing is internet, so this will have to wait until we return April 11.
